How to Stop RealPlayer at Startup

by Joshua Phillips

RealPlayer enables you to play a large assortment of video and audio file types on your computer. However, despite all the features of RealPlayer, there is one thing the software lacks: a feature withing the program preventing it from starting up when your PC boots. Because RealPlayer does not offer a native way to stop the software from launching at startup, you must use the Startup feature in Windows 8 to achieve this goal.

Press "Ctrl-Alt-Del" on your keyboard and select "Task Manager" to open the Task Manager.

Select the "Startup" tab.

Right-click the "RealPlayer" entry and select "Disable" from the popup menu.

  • You can also access the Task Manager from either the Charms bar or by right-clicking an empty location on your taskbar and click "Task Manager" from the menu.

  • Steps and information in this article applies to RealPlayer 16 and may differ in other versions of the software.
